The West Coast Mental Health Network is branching out into mental health education for youth. Our board has decided to embark upon a research program of peer education in schools that we hope will fill a gap in public education about mental health. MORE >

Please consider attending our Annual General Meeting

It's scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 12 pm. It will take place at the Raven Song Community Health Centre, 2450 Ontario Street (at West 8th Avenue), basement level. Besides electing a new board directors, we will discuss possible future directions for the Network. Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, we are not able to offer a lunch as have in the past. Please bring your own food.

Our 23rd Year !

Since 1991, the Network has provided mental health service users with a profound sense of community and belonging, as well as opportunities for social interaction, education, creative self-expression and having a powerful voice. Members who take part in Network programs do so as peers, not as clients or patients, and are self-referred.

The Network serves a unique population underserved by the mainstream mental health community of services. Our client population is often wary of mainstream services. They have had negative experiences negotiating the professional/client relationships other organizations live by and so they turn to the Network’s culture of peer-run services and activities where the problem of power and oppression is significantly reduced.

The Network is a charitable, non-profit society run wholly by and for people who have experienced treatment in the mental health system.

The Network relies primarily on annual funding from the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to provide our current high level of unique programming. But to keep us working at capacity, we have also relied on less secure funding, which may or may not be available in any given year. To meet this contingency we welcome any donation you can afford.
